Medallions are here ---

Greetings from Lorenzo il Confuso, Keeper of the IKAC.
This notice is penned on 21 August 2014.

The medallions are here. Please contact me if you would like to distribute them for your Kingdom, or if you prefer that I send them to you directly.

This year I will post on this page which Medallions I have sent out as I ship them.
Also, I still hold a handful of medallions from some of the past seasons for archers who either never claimed their medallions or who I was unable to contact. If you have not received a medallion in previous seasons, please contact me to see if it's among the ones that I still hold.

-----------------------

The 2014 season started on 1 February 2014 and is now underway.

IMPORTANT: NEW RULES FOR 2014 are listed below (they have also been posted on the website under Rules). Please read all rules carefully.

1) Period Crossbow division - Period Crossbows may not have a modern style lock nor a modern trigger. They must have a period-style lock and release mechanism. The Lock and Release Mechanism should be documentable to 16th century or earlier. If there is a question about the mechanisms being in period, then the Marshal in Charge of the shoot may request proof or allow its one time use at that event, until proof is provided. Archers using crossbows that might be questioned should be encouraged to bring documentation

2) All Divisions - Currently, archers use the standard 5-color 60 cm FITA target. Upon request of several IKAC shooters, archers are now allowed to also use 60 cm FITA black/white targets if they wish. These targets can have a more period look. They are commonly used in mundane archery competition for Field Archery at distances from 30-60 yards. They can be bought from most archery distributors, including Lancaster Archery. The Keeper is interested in feedback of the use of these targets, both positive or negative. NOTE: The use of this target is entirely optional. Archers can continue to use the usual FITA 5-color 60 cm target without issues.

3) Youth divisions changes:
- Children division - age 10 and under --> age 9 and under
- Youth Division - age 13 and under --> age 12 and under
- Youth Division - distances of 10-20-30 --> distance of 15-20-30

- An additional note is that archers in the youth divisions may be asked to move to a higher division during the season, at the discretion of the Keeper and Deputy Keeper (when a Marshal fails to do so in keeping with the spirit of the rules)

If you have any questions or concerns about the rule changes above, please contact me.

For all questions, issues and comments, please send your emails to
to IkacKeeper

Regards,

- Lorenzo.

Welcome to the Inter-Kingdom Archery Competition and Inter-Kingdom Combat Archery Competition Official page!! The Inter-kingdom Archery Competition, IKAC for short, and the Inter-Kingdom Combat Archery Competition, IKCAC for short, are year-long target archery tournaments that allow all the archers in the Knowne World to compete in an SCA-wide competition on behalf of their Kingdoms. Each year, up to a thousand archers from almost every Kingdom submit thousand of scores in a bid to win the tournament. It is a great way for archers not just to represent their Kingdom and possibly win a great prize, but also a way for archers to compete against other archers in different parts of the Knowne World, and chart their progress in an SCA-wide setting. The competition is open to all archers, beginning and experienced. It is a great way to develop skill, and very rewarding as you see your skill increase and move up the ranks. And at all times you will be representing your Kingdom!. The competition has multiple divisions, including general target archery, period archery, combat archery, and special divisions for younger archers. The IKAC/IKCAC competition has running for over 30 years.
In the following pages you will find information about the competition, current scores for this season and scores for the past ten years of the competition. The IKAC/IKCAC is one of the unique competitions in the SCA, as it unites archers from far off places through their common love of archery. I hope you will find the competition interesting, and rewarding, as many have through the years. If you have any questions, comments, or criticisms, do not hesitate to write to me Lorenzo il Confuso.

The Inter-Kingdom Archery Competition

The IKAC consists of six Divisions: Open Handbow, Open Crossbow, Period Handbow, Period Crossbow, Children’s Division and Youth Division. The competition starts on 1 February and ends on December 1 and any archer can participate by shooting at either an official practice or an official event.

In all Divisions, each Kingdom`s score will be the average of the top 3 scorers. However, all scores submitted for ALL archers that participate in the competition will be shown in the database on the Scores page.

Prizes will be given for each Division, ONLY to the first place Kingdom`s team of three archers (Golden Medallions), with the exception of the Open Division, which will also award the second place Kingdom`s team of three archers (Silver Medallions).

The IKAC is very similar to a normal Royal Round, except that it has more ends. There are specific rules for each division, and they can be found on the IKAC rules page. Please make sure to read the rules carefully prior to participating.

To ease and assist recording the scores at the range these score sheets has been developed in Excel:

The Inter Kingdom Combat Archery Competition

The Inter Kingdom Combat Archery Competition, IKCAC for short, is a target competition shot with combat gear, which provides the combat archer of the SCA with an opportunity to compete with other archers from all Kingdoms of the Known World. It also provides an SCA wide standard of comparison for combat archery skills.

The IKCAC, unlike the IKAC, consists of only one division. The starting date is 1 February and the ending date is December 1. As in the IKAC, each Kingdom`s score is made up of the average of the top 3 scorers, and medallions are awarded to the top 3 archers of the winning Kingdom. As with the IKAC, all participants` scores are shown on the Scores page, allowing each archer to track their progress and compare themselves with other archers in the Knowne World.

There are very specific rules for the IKCAC, please make sure to read the rules on the IKCAC rules page. On that page you can also see a drawing and picture for the IKCAC typical target.

To ease and assist recording the scores at the range this Score Sheet has been developed in Excel, or this Score Sheet in PDF. Details on building a the IKCAC target can be found here.
