Rules for Seasonal Challenge - H-O-R-S-E

The Scorekeeper last approved scores for this shoot on: 3/29/24

Shoot Begins: Tuesday, March 1, 2011
Shoot Ends: Tuesday, May 31, 2011
Scores must be Submitted by: Wednesday, June 15, 2011
This is a Competitive type shoot. Shooters may compete against the same individual Bi-Weekly (once per 14 days).

Rules:
Just like the old school yard Basket Ball game of the same name with a twist. Atlantian Archers are some of the biggest trash talking shooters around! After the formal shooting is done for the day how often can you find archers out there picking a target and challenging whoever is standing next to them to hit it better? Pretty much any time there is a target and at least two archers left! So here is you chance to talk trash on the record and challenge anyone to shoot it better! So pick your target, challenge someone, then go give it your best shot!

1) NO Practicing a shot -ever- just make it up and shoot it once. That goes for both the person making it up and receiving the challenge.
2) After you *ANSWER* a challenge from someone else, you may use that same exact challenge on *ONE* other person. (Tag you`re it!)
3) Pick a target that can get repeated 5 times. Because that is how many times you will be shooting it for each challenge -H-O-R-S-E-.
4) Pick a target that your opponent is likely to have, because if they don`t then they can`t accept your challenge now can they?
5) Pick targets that are quick and easy to shoot, but will probably take more then one arrow (other then at incredibly luck shot) to complete.
6) The specific target rules should be very simple to write and understand. But as fun as you and your opponent might want to make it.
7) Each target still has to be SAFE and meet all safety rules (HEY, who let that ADULT in here!!!)

The Challenge:
The target for each Challenge can be pretty much anything you want it to be! Just like the basketball version you are making up the challenge on the fly. Yes you can make challenges so that two people of dis-similar skill levels might be evenly matched, look at D. Some examples might be:
A) (between two Marksmen) Hit a 12oz Soda can at 15 yards.
B) (between two crossbows) 12oz Soda can starts standing upright, hit the top or bottom. IE hit it once to knock it over exposing the top/bottom, then hit the top/bottom. And hitting the side but exiting out the top/bottom does not count as a hit. From 15 yards.
C) Hit all three stripes on the Winter Challenge`s Wand from 18 yards.
D) (Archer to a GBE) Two hits on a 60cm target. +2 rings for each lower rank. Grand Bowmen Elite 1 ring only (just the outside ring), Bowman Elite 1-3, Bowmen 1-5, Marksmen 1-7, Archer 1-9, Novice 1-10 plus the entire paper square. From 20 yards.

Anything else you can dream up! Got some past Seasonal Challenge targets laying around, use them to challenge someone! Just don`t forget whoever you challenge gets to make use of any loopholes, so don`t forget a range!

Should you not wish to come up with a more interesting challenge of your own, the default challenge for this shoot is the one described in D) Two hits on a 60cm target. +2 rings for each lower rank. Grand Bowmen Elite 1 ring only (just the outside ring), Bowman Elite 1-3, Bowmen 1-5, Marksmen 1-7, Archer 1-9, Novice 1-10 plus the entire paper square. From 20 yards.

Scoring:
Un-timed ends
Shoot the challenge once, then reset for the next end. Do this three times.
-H- Number of arrows it takes to complete the challenge once.
-O- Number of arrows it takes to complete the challenge once.
-R- Number of arrows it takes to complete the challenge once.
Timed end
Standard 5 second countdown "5.4.3.2.1.Loose" then complete the challenge TWICE back to back without stopping the clock. Depending on the target this may require two targets on hand.
-S- Number of seconds it takes to complete the challenge twice. Record ONLY the tens digit (so if it took 6 seconds the score is 0, 31 seconds the score would be 3).
-E- Number of arrows it takes to complete the challenge twice.

Maximum Scores: The maximum number of arrows shot (and therefor score) at each target is 10. For the speed end this translates to a maximum of 20 arrows since it is being shot twice. And a maximum time of 100 seconds (1min 40sec) which would also be a score of 10.

Note: The individual running the clock determines when to stop the clock. If they think it looks like the shot missed, sorry shoot again. If they think it looks like the shot hit and the clock is stopped, good shoot`n tex. The clock handler`s ruling on time stands, even if once you go down range the opposite is true. HEY, you picked the challenge, they just tried to score it for you! A true stopwatch is highly recommended.

Talk`n Trash:
Pick who you would like to throw some trash talk at, write up the challenge, shoot it, then submit the score. If they have an email in the system they will be notified of your trash talk, and if they choose to do so may answer it! Pick who you challenge carefully, you do want to try and beat them so you get more points, else you are helping THEM to win this shoot! Be warned as soon as you post a challenge against one person, someone else might read it and think that would be fun and counter challenge you, and boy could they talk some trash at the next event if you didn`t answer your very own challenge!

Note: You can only shoot against the same person once per 14 days, but this challenge is open to the KNOWNE WORLD so you can challenge long lost friends who moved to say Lochac (or any other kingdom who uses the scores site, so their local marshal can submit the answering score). To win this bear pit you have to shoot against a lot of different people. So dream up some fun skill leveling challenges and go shoot!

Enjoy!
