Description
June Crown A.S. 53, June 23, 2018
Special archery tournament sponsored by the Royal Missile Company of
the West
Event the first: Giostro di Archiado, 15 yards. Four contestants on the line at a
time, four shots each, in turns. The white cube is marked 1-4. The outer target is
marked for negative points and lose a turn. If arrows are knocked out of the block
they do not score. Arrows on the edge of the block must be held in by unbroken
tape. Arrows spanning a line will count to the archer’s advantage. If the line
spanned is for the jail, the archer may choose to lose points or a turn.
Event the second: Combat end at IKCAC target, distance yards to start, shoot
6 arrows. Use your choice or handbow or crossbow. Advance one step after each
shot. Scoring is kill 5 points, hit 2 points.
Event the third: Nottingham round, four ends, distances 25, 30, 35, 40 yards.
Target is traditional roundel. Shoot two arrows per end. Scoring is red peg 5,
roundel 3, outer circle 1. Count your points, remove your arrow farthest from the
center. Of the arrows remaining, the half that are closest to the center get a 3
point bonus. The arrow closest to center gets a 5 point bonus.
Event the fourth: Calygreyhound on target sled, 2 passes. You may shoot as many
as you can as the target is between the markers. Scoring is by consensus of the
contestants. Heart 11, vitals 10, all other 8 points.
Event the fifth: Train an archer. At the conclusion of the fourth event, there will
be a two hour break. Competitive shooting will reconvene at . During this
break it is intended the contestants have lunch. They will then each find a trainee
of any age, who has never shot a bow before. The contestant will teach the
trainee to shoot in the time allotted. At the end of the two hours the trainees will
shoot one end of six arrows from 20 yards at a standard 60cm five color target.
Scoring is standard 5,4,3,2,1. Points scored by the trainee will be added to each
contestan’s score as a bonus. Trainees will shoot while their contestant trainers
cheer them on from the gallery. If a trainee has to leave early, they may shoot
their end early.
