Rules: This winters challenge will run from All Saints Day this year until All Fool`s Day next spring. The team arrangement this year will be significantly different from years past. In years past the challenge has been made be the Barony of Loch Salann to the rest of the Kingdom. This year the teams will be made up of three archers, who can be from any group within the Kingdom, ie. one from Arn Hold, one from Stan Wyrm and one from Arrow`s Flight or any other combination that the team would like. The object is to allow archers from throughout the Kingdom a level playing field to compete in this event. In order to keep the teams from “loading up” with all top archers, there will be a limit imposed based on the individual archers royal round ranking. Grand Bowmasters would be counted as a 5, Bowmasters a 4, Rangers a 3, Woodsman a 2, and Yeoman a 1. A limit of 9 points would be the maximum allowed on any team. Using this criteria a team could consist of a Bowmaster, a Ranger and a Woodsman or another teams could consist of 3 Rangers for example. Not all archers in the Kingdom who may wish to take up the Winter Challenge have a Royal Round ranking, as with all things in the SCA honor and a sense of fair play should be used when such an individual is considered for a team and assign them a value based on good judgement.
All ends of the challenge will be shot using a standard 40 cm FITA target.
First End -Shot from the 20 yard line 6 arrows standard scoring
Second End -Shot from the 15 yard line Timed end – 30 Seconds
Third End - 3 arrows shot from the 20 yard line 3 arrows shot from the 10 yard line
