Rules for B) Royal Round - PERIOD - 2016 Period Season

Shoot Begins: Sunday, November 1, 2015
Shoot Ends: Monday, October 31, 2016
Scores must be Submitted by: Wednesday, November 30, 2016 and within 30 days of being shot.
Rules:
Adults and minors 16+.
Period Royal Round consists of the following:
40 Yards
30 Yards
20 Yards
Timed end of 30 Seconds at 20 Yards
Scoring: Period style target White=2 Green=4 Gold=8
When scored on a Fita style target White-Blue=1 Red-OuterGold=4 Center Gold=8
Individual average is determined by the 3 highest scores
Scores must be shot on three different days
If the archer is using a Period Bow, he or she must declare before the start of the Round if the scores will count for the Period division Royal Round.
Period bow:
A handbow or crossbow that conforms in spirit and/or actuality to bows common during the time period covered by the SCA.
The following are prohibited:
Full or partial center cut sight windows.
Limb marks or sighting aids.
Non-period arrow rests.
Take down bows.
A crossbow having a plastic or modern composite material stock or body, with cutouts through the stock or body, is not a period style bow.
Allowed:
Period style longbows of any material, including modern laminated longbows, but with no cutout sight window. (Center cutouts by being fully filled/wrapped can qualify as period)
Period style recurves of any material. A bow with recurved limb ends or static limb tips, such as Siyahs on Asiatic bows, but with no cutout sight window, are considered period style bows.
A crossbow having a solid wooden stock or body in the shape of pre-1650 crossbows is a period style bow. It may not have a rifle style butt. It may have simple, documentable rear sights.
Other Information:
Archers may use any period style release appropriate for their bow, but are not required to do so. For example, an archer may use a glove or tab instead of a thumb ring while shooting an Asian style bow.
Modern string materials are allowed, as well as period materials.
